Finally, a curriculum of family recipes, cooking, art and garden activities that will help your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and students grow into ambassadors of peace. The how-to list of fun activities for families, and a curriculum for educators, is posted weekly on my Facebook group page, Architects of Peace.
A note from Susan:
When my youngest child was eighteen-months, I went in search of a mommy-and-me program. When I couldn’t find one that reflected our family values and favorite activities, my eldest daughter, at the wise-age of age 6, suggested I create my own.
I held my first class in the Fall of 1999 at the San Anselmo Recreational Center in Marin County, California. Twelve toddlers and their mothers attended. Each week, I created a different theme, connecting World Culture cooking, art, and gardening activities. In a year, Alphabet Soup grew to 100 families a week with a staff of five. We became a community. I soon realized our true audience wasn’t the children but the parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. We gave them not only the recipes but also the ingredients that showed them how to use food as a vocabulary to raise their children to become Architects of Peace.
Every week we celebrated a different world culture by making creative connections, rejoicing in the uniqueness of every individual and the bonds we share. An Alphabet Soup philosophy soon emerged:
There are no prerequisites for worthiness. We are all love and light, put on this Earth, to share our divine gifts and connect with others.
Life got in the way of my teaching, and I decided to shut down teaching the classes. Although, I still run into former students, who are now young adults. They tell me how Alphabet Soup was helped them foster a greater love of learning, acceptance, and creativity.
May Architects of Peace bring joy to your family, that it has brought to so many, and help spread love worldwide.
Be your own kind of beautiful,
